Australia Business Visas and Immigration
There are several options designed to gain you a business visa for Australia.Exactly which type of Australian immigration is relevant relies upon your exact requirements, relevant business experience and available investment capital.
The following three business categories may apply to you:
Business Owner (provisional):
- You have an overall successful business career
- Your main business (and your spouses main business combined) has an annual turnover of at least A$500,000 which has to be demonstrated within at least 2 out of 4 years immediately before applying
- At least two out of the 4 years immediately before applying, you (and your spouse together) have a net value of at least A$250,000
- In addition to the above capital your business and personal assets (and your spouse's combined) have a net value of at least A$500,000 which has been lawfully obtained and is available to transfer to Australia within 2 years of obtaining this visa
- You (and your spouses business combined) have business and personal assets in addition to the above that are of sufficient net value to settle in Australia
- You (and your spouses business combined) have business and personal assets of at least A$250,000 which will be available to conduct or establish a business in Australia within 2 years of obtaining the State/Territory sponsored owner (Provisional) visa
- You (and your spouses business combined) have business and personal assets in addition to the above that are of sufficient net value to settle in Australia
- You are less than 45 years at the time of the application
- You have at least vocational English
- You have not been engaged in a business where the provision professional, technical or trade services took up more than 50% of your time
- Your business will be of exceptional benefit to Australia, creating employment opportunities for Australian residents and be of benefit the Australian economy
If you do not meet the above requirements, you may like to consider other business visa options or permanent resident visas such as the skilled worker visa for Australia.
Senior Executive (provisional):
- You have an overall successful business career
- You have maintained an outstanding senior manager business employment record for at least 2 out of the past years immediately before applying. You would have management responsibility within a major business over other managers and you would be responsible for strategic policy development affecting a major component or a wide range of operations of that major business. It is expected that a business with such a management structure would usually have the ability to produce an annual turnover of at least A$10,000,000.
- In addition to the above your business and personal assets (and your spouse's combined) have a net value of at least A$500,000 which has been lawfully obtained and is available to transfer to Australia within 2 years of obtaining this visa
- You (and your spouses business combined) have business and personal assets in addition to the above that are of sufficient net value to settle in Australia
- You are less than 45 years of age at the time of the application
- You have at least vocational English
- There is a need for you to be temporarily in Australia to conduct or establish the proposed business activity
Depending on where you intend to establish the proposed business, you may also be eligible to apply for state/territory sponsorship. In this case, some of the above criteria, such as age and required capital, are a little more flexible.
If you do not meet the above requirements, you may like to consider other business visa options or permanent resident visas such as the Australia skilled worker visa.
Investors (provisional):
- You have an overall successful record of eligible investment of a qualifying business
- You have a total of at least 3 years experience of direct involvement in managing one or more qualifying businesses or eligible investment
- At least one out of the 5 years immediately before applying you have:
- maintained direct control in either managing a qualifying business in which you (or your spouse together) had an ownership interest of at least 10% of the total value of business
- maintained direct involvement in managing your (or your and your spouse's combined) eligible investment, the total value of which was at least A$1,500.000
- At least 2 years immediately before applying, you (and your spouse together) have a net value of at least A$2,250.000 before applying
- You have a high level of management experience and skill in relation to an eligible investment or qualifying business activity
- You will make a Designated Investment of A$1,500.000
- You are less than 45 years at the time of the application
- You have at least vocational English
- You have a realistic commitment to continue to maintain a business or investment activity in Australia after the designated investment has matured
Depending on where you intend to establish the proposed business, you may also be eligible to apply for state/territory sponsorship. In this case, some of the above criteria, such as age and required capital, are a little more flexible.
